Uncle Benny
The news came as a shock to all of us. i didn't know how to react when i heard my favorite uncle benny was gone. he passed away yesterday due to old age. i am so sorry because i could not be there just to even see him for the last time.
we owe uncle a lot. i didn't tell him how much i love him but i do. i have a lot of respect for him, too. i remember he would tag me along to sm city almost everyday because he couldn't go back to the US before. there were some problems with his flight schedule. he was the one who would buy nanay appliances like washing machine, tv and anything that he thought our family lacked back then. he was like a second father to us.
i remember how he would tell me stories about the second world war where he was a volunteer. he was a gunner in one of those tora-tora planes. i didn't know if all of those stories were true or not, but i didn't care. i enjoyed listening while he told his piece.
i do not know how we could have survived without uncle benny. he and my tita brought my ate to the states and that changed our lives for the better. he gave us opportunities not usually enjoyed by other families. he was so generous to a fault.
whereever he may be now, i pray that he will continue to look after us. but i'm sure his with Him now, up there, looking down at us with a smile on his face.
thank you very much uncle benny, you have changed my life, our lives. you will be in our hearts forever.
when my own sun sets, we will be seeing each other again. until then.
